Last Saturday, the 22nd, we premiered our SOUNDPAINTING BARREIRO IMPROV BIG BAND at a well-attended AMAC, on a night where only a show like this can warm our souls and make us forget for a moment the cold of the late November night breeze.

We had rock, somber music, the beauty of jazz (of course), one of the themes from RDR2, Killy and Billy, we explored the works of Van Gogh and cubism-parallelipedism, we desperately wished they would stop treating us like a plush toy, we reflected on what it means to cry on stage and the truth of the scene, and finally we drank a Whiskey. But only one, the same one. Always the same one. While all this was happening, dancing beings composed the scenes, elevating them to a spectrum of tangible beauty. And the drawings? A clear recollection of a moment, a work made of visible, audible and sensory inspiration. In the end, we improvised. And when you improvise with an open heart, something magical happens.

Soundpainting is like this: we felt (and saw) how improvisation, supported by collective energy, allows each voice, each body, each creative impulse—regardless of prior experience—to find its space and be honored. It was a living demonstration that improvisation is also about acceptance, openness, and harmony.

The "yes, and..." attitude proved its power once again: acceptance—of ideas, of differences, of the unexpected—created authentic, genuine moments, full of emotion.

For us, this performance — and every look, gesture, sound, or silence shared — reinforces what is radically human about improvisation: it is a bridge between different worlds, and a reminder that art is encounter.

Thank you to everyone who was present!
